Natasha Richardson could have lived

Actress Natasha Richardson could have survived her fall while skiing in Canada if only she had heeded an instructor's advice and consulted

    doctors immediately.

Instructor Danush Rudolph was also skiing on Mont Tremblant when she was told that Natasha needed help. Rudoph tried to convince the actress to go to hospital but did not succeed, dailymail.co.uk reports.

A source said: "Natasha had no visible injuries. But any time you take a bad tumble, there is a remote possibility that you can tear a blood vessel in the brain."

Natasha turned away an ambulance and chose to return to her hotel. A second ambulance had to be summoned two hours later but by then Natasha became disoriented and confused and began to vomit.

By the time she got to a hospital, it had been nearly four hours after her fall. Doctors discovered her brain injury and sent her to Montreal but it was too late. Natasha will be buried in a private family ceremony near her Millbrook Dutchess County home in New York. Source URL: http://pokbongkoh.blogspot.com/2009/03/

Rihanna 'attack' recreated in film

The alleged fight between R&B singers Rihanna and her boyfriend Chris Brown has been recreated in a public service address

    film.

A US 'teen empowering group' DoSomething.org used the police reports on the incident to recreate the whole incident and shoot a video aimed at educating and helping victims of teen dating abuse, the Sun reported in it's online edition.

The video begins with a warning about graphic images before showing a teen couple in a car acting out what's described in police notes, while a narrator reads from the actual Los Angeles Police Department affidavit based on Rihanna's description of the alleged attack.

"Mad? Do Something about it," the clip concludes, noting that one in three teens is abused in a relationship in US. The video appeals the victims of such attacks to come forward.

Meanwhile, Star Magazine , a US magazine has claimed that Rihanna fears her estranged boyfriend Chris Brown could release a sex video of the couple.

A source who approached the magazine said, "Rihanna has no issues with her sexuality. But she'd be mortified if her friends and family found this out," the source said. Source URL: http://pokbongkoh.blogspot.com/2009/03/

Jade Goody: A life led in front of cameras

From being brought up in a small house in southeast London to becoming one of the most hated- turned-loved person in Britain, Shilpa Shetty's
    Jade Goody
    Jade Goody
bete noire in 'Big Brother', Jade Goody always lived her life for the cameras.

Born as Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody on June 5, 1981, her mother Jackiey Budden raised her as a single parent after her father left them when she was just two years old.

Goody had openly spoken about her troubled childhood and her struggle to get an education saying that her poverty- ridden early days prompted her to secure a better future for her two sons -- Bobby and Freddy from a relationship with TV presenter Jeff Brazier.

Goody worked as a dental nurse before gaining popularity by appearing on the Channel 4 reality show 'Big Brother' in 2002.

Though she was ridiculed by the media for being ignorant, the star maintained a steady popularity and finished fourth in the show.

Goody maintained her fame by starring in many other reality shows, featuring in gossip columns and women magazines and launching new products while other Big Brother contestants were soon forgotten by the public. In the process, she went on to win millions.

She also published her autobiography in 2006 titled "Jade: My Autobiography" and launched her own fragrance "Shh...Jade Goody".

Jade Goody dies in peace

Seven years after becoming Britain's best known reality TV star who lived out her most intimate moments in front of the camera, Jade Goody died
    Jade Goody
    Jade Goody (AP photo)More Pics
quietly in her sleep at home early Sunday
, her publicist Max Clifford said. She was 27.

Goody, who was ill with cervical cancer, died at her home in Upshire, a village in southest England, at 3.14 a.m. GMT with her mother Jackiey Budden, husband Jack Tweed and family friend Kevin Adams by her side.

Goody's mother said: "My beautiful daughter is at peace."
Clifford said it was "ironic" that Goody had died on Mother's Day. The television star had struck media deals worth nearly a million pounds to secure the future of her two young sons - Bobby, five and Freddie, four.

"I think she's going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives," he said in a reference to the fact that cervical cancer testing has increased in Britain following her public battle with the disease.
"She was a very, very brave girl. And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage."

It was also ironic that Goody, who had spent most of her celebrity life in front of the camera, died quietly - away from the glare of lights and camera.

Goody, a working class woman from south London who worked as a dental nurse, shot to fame in 2002 when she appeared on the reality TV show "Big Brother" and made an immediate impression with her feistiness.

But she became controversial in the celebrity version of the same show in 2007, when Channel 4 network expelled her after thousands of viewers complained she had racially bullied Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, who was on the same show.
Goody, who had called the Bollywood star "Shilpa Poppadum" angered fans in India, who burnt Goody's effigies during a visit by then Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown.

But before the incident could turn into a diplomatic row, Goody apologised, made up with Shetty, undertook a tour of India and bounced back into the public eye.

It was in India, while Goody was making an appearance on the Indian version of Big Brother, that British doctors told her she was suffering from cervical cancer.

She flew back home for treatment but the cancer spread to her liver, bowels and groin. Goody then allowed a television channel to film her being treated in hospital in a reality show called Jade. In tandem, British tabloids reported her every move and statement on a daily basis.

She married her long-time boyfriend Jack Tweed last month and was christened with her sons this month. Jade told IANS exclusively last month that she felt "honoured by India's love" and relayed "a big thank you" to the thousands who had sent her letters, emails and cards.

Promoter adds more dates for Michael Jackson shows

US singer Michael Jackson announces that he is set to play ten live concerts at AP – US singer Michael Jackson announces that he is set to play ten live concerts at the London O2 Arena in …

LONDON – As Michael Jackson once said: Don't stop till you get enough.

Concert promoters on Wednesday more than doubled Jackson's summer run of concerts in London after advance tickets sold out within hours of going on sale.

AEG Live said an advance allotment of half the tickets for the 10 July shows announced last week sold out soon after going on sale. Fifteen more concerts have been added into September, and further shows are possible.

Ticket-seller Ticketmaster apologized for problems experienced by fans after its computer system crashed. Managing director Chris Edmonds said the glitches were the result of "an unprecedented level of demand."

Tickets, priced between 50 pounds and 75 pounds ($70 and $105), are currently on sale to buyers who registered online. Half the tickets for each show have been held back and go on sale to the general public Friday morning.

The 50-year-old King of Pop says the shows at the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in south London will be his last in the British capital.

Jackson has sold more than 750 million albums and won 13 Grammys, but has not staged a major tour since 1997 or released an album of new material since 2001.

Jackson has appeared in public infrequently since being acquitted of child molestation in California in 2005, and he has struggled to pay his debts. Last year, he was forced to give up the deed to Neverland, his 2,500-acre (1,000 hectare) ranch and miniature amusement park in California.

The London shows are titled, "This Is It," and Jackson said they would be his swan song — although AEG said the gigs could be part of a bigger, final world tour.

But it remains to be seen whether Jackson is up to a lengthy tour. His last live performance in Britain was at the 2006 World Music Awards, when he managed just a few lines of "We Are the World" before leaving the stage.

A video of Jackson trying to record a new single, shown at a British court last year when Jackson was being sued for breach of contract, showed him struggling to keep up his powerful vocals.

Can you guess the celeb bump?

"I mean, I love being an aunt to my beauty and nephew," she continues. "And I used to want to, like, adopt 10 kids -- because I had friends who were adopted, and I thought that was the coolest thing, to be chosen. But...my job is too selfish."

"I went to see He's Just Not That Into You the other night, and honestly, you walk away from that movie feeling so glad that you're single," she says.

"I went with friends who are my backup singers on the road, and have their own group, and we were like, where do we even meet people when you're working so much?" she goes on. "I mean, we travel with a bunch of married men! And I love working; I can't see myself not doing this."

Although if she met the right person, she would consider saying "I Do."

"It would be normal for me to go, 'Whatever, I'll be a fembot.' But I have a big fear of change, or negative change, anyway," she says. "I'm basically the same person I was when I won Idol, or when I was 10.

Watchmen's "Decent" Midnight Box Office

Watchmen's "Decent" Midnight Box Office E! Online – Watchmen's "Decent" Midnight Box Office(E! Online)

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Watchmen grossed an estimated $4.6 million in Friday midnight screenings, Exhibitor Relations reported today.

"It's not high. It's a decent gross for the [two-and-a-half-hour-plus] running time," says Jeff Bock, a box-office analyst for the company. The numbers, he adds, "don't tell us it's going to be a huge blockbuster."

Bock says the take signals somewhere around a $46 million to $50 million three-day gross, a debut that would put it in the neighborhood of Batman Begins, Superman Returns and Wanted, to name three comic-book releases, but leave it out of the reach of director Zack Snyder's 300, which bowed with $70.8 million in 2007.

Among other recent midnight-launched movies, Watchmen came up short of Twilight ($7 million), and, unsurprisingly, a very long ways away from The Dark Knight (record $18.5 million.)

Dying British reality TV star Goody christened

Dying British reality TV star Goody christened AFP/Channel Four/File – Jade Goody, the cancer-stricken British reality television star (seen here in 2007) was christened along …
LONDON (AFP) – Jade Goody, the cancer-stricken British reality television star, was christened along with her two children on Saturday in what her publicist called a "final good-bye".

The 27-year-old, who found fame on "Big Brother" in 2002, was "very pale and fragile" during the ceremony at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London, publicist Max Clifford said.

Sitting in a chair, Goody wore her hospital gown and had her drip still attached during the christenings.

Clifford said it was the last thing that Goody would do publicly. The ceremony, attended by friends and family, was photographed by a magazine.

The star, whose cervical cancer has spread to other parts of her body, has likely only weeks to live.

She wanted the christenings to take place in a church but was too unwell to leave hospital.

"She was saying a final good-bye to some people," Clifford said.

"She finds it very hard to stay awake for more than a few minutes but she stayed awake for the 20 minutes of the service."

Goody is trying to make as much money as she can in her remaining days to pay for the upkeep and education of her sons Bobby, five, and Freddy, four.

She married 21-year-old partner Jack Tweed on February 22 after a nine-day engagement, for which media rights were sold.

Photographs of the christenings will be also published in a magazine.

"I'm no medical expert but I doubt she will leave (the hospital)," Clifford said.

On her first "Big Brother" appearance, the ex-dental nurse from south London shot to fame for for her loud mouth and lack of general knowledge.

On "Celebrity Big Brother" in 2007, she sparked a major row in Britain and India over her treatment of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty after she was accused of racist bullying towards the Indian star.

British rock group Oasis cancels China tour

Noel Gallagher, right, and Liam Gallagher of British band AP – Noel Gallagher, right, and Liam Gallagher of British band 'Oasis' perform during the television show …

BEIJING – Concert organizers confirmed Monday that British rock band Oasis has canceled tour dates in Beijing and Shanghai in April.

The shows, scheduled for Beijing's Capital Arena on April 3 and the Shanghai Grand Stage on April 5, would have been the first in mainland China for the group, currently on a world tour promoting its latest release, "Dig Out Your Soul."

No explanation has been given for the cancellation, said a venue manager who refused to give his name.

Ticket sales for the show were halted Feb. 28, according to the official China Daily. Details on ticket refunds would be announced later, according to a statement on the ticketing Web site emma.cn.

Last month, the band had posted on its official Web site that: "Oasis are excited to announce their first-ever shows in China as part of their current world tour." The Web site is temporarily unavailable but the band's MySpace page has no mention of cancellations.

It's unclear whether the band will play a previously announced show in Hong Kong on April 7.

A growing number of Western musical acts have traveled to China in recent years, including the Rolling Stones and Elton John.

However, China closely regulates live performances, especially after Icelandic singer Bjork embarrassed authorities last year by shouting "Tibet!" at the end of her concert in Shanghai.

Iran angered over films 'The Wrestler' and '300'

US actresses Annette Bening, left, and Alfre Woodard, right, pose for AP – US actresses Annette Bening, left, and Alfre Woodard, right, pose for photographers along with Iranian …

TEHRAN, Iran – An adviser to Iran's president on Sunday demanded an apology from a team of visiting Hollywood actors and movie industry officials, including Annette Bening, saying films such as "300" and "The Wrestler" were "insulting" to Iranians.

Without an apology, members of Iran's film industry should refuse to meet with representatives from the nine-member team, said Javad Shamaqdari, the art and cinema adviser to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"In my viewpoint, it is a failure to have an official meeting with one who is insulting," Shamaqdari told The Associated Press.

The film "300," portrays the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., in which a force of 300 Spartans held off a massive Persian army at a mountain pass in Greece for three days. It angered many Iranians for the way Persians are depicted as decadent, sexually flamboyant and evil in contrast to the noble Greeks.

Iranians also criticized "The Wrestler" starring Mickey Rourke as a rundown professional wrestler who is preparing for a rematch with his old nemesis, "The Ayatollah." During a fight scene, "The Ayatollah" tries to choke Rourke with an Iranian flag before Rourke pulls the flagpole away, breaks it and throws it into the cheering crowd.

Neither movie was shown in Iran.

While American actors such as Sean Penn have traveled to Iran, it is rare for such a large group to visit. In February, Iran denied visas to a U.S. women's badminton team that had been invited to compete in a tournament in Iran.

The group includes the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Sid Ganis; actors Bening, and Alfre Woodard; producer William Horberg; AMPAS Special Events Programmer and Exhibitions Curator Ellen Harrington; and Tom Pollock, the former Universal Pictures chairman.

According to the Web site of Iran's Cinema Association, the group arrived Friday in Iran. They met a group of Iranian artists on Saturday, and will be holding educational seminars in directing, screenwriting, acting, producing, marketing and film distribution.

Shamaqdari says Iranians will warmly host the visiting Americans "but it will not stop Iranians from demanding an apology."

The visits come as President Barack Obama has indicated a new willingness to open up relations with Iran.

Relations between the two countries have been strained over concerns in the West that Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapons program, something Tehran denies. The U.S. has also alleged that overwhelmingly Shiite Iran supports Shiite militias in Iraq, which Iran says is not true.

The two countries have not had diplomatic relations since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the hostage-taking at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
