Both KKR and RCB have played 5 matches thus far but there is a huge difference in their performance. As Kolkata have won three of their matches Bangalore has lost three. Prior to today’s match both the teams have played 6 matches in the previous year’s IPL and the fact is that both have had a 50% win record.


But history doesn’t matter because this is IPL and which means that each day is a new day and each team has the capacity to beat any in the competition. If we look at the current form of both the teams Kolkata certainly has the upper hand. Even though they lost their last match but the kind of players that they have can win matches on their own. Lets take a look at both sides and how they line up for this battle.


Royal Challengers Bangalore


Looks like one of the best side in the competition on paper but have certainly failed to perform in the previous matches. Their biggest disappointment has been the overseas players who have failed to perform. Players like Dilshan and even the captain Daniel Vettori have failed to deliver the goods. But the inclusion of Gayle might just do the trick for them as he will be having a point to prove to their selectors.


Even the Indian players in the team have failed to live up to the expectations only Virat Kohli has looked to be a consistent performer. Saurabh Tiwary hasn’t proved himself and neither has any other youngster.


Kolkata Knight Riders


Kolkata is amongst the most competitive teams in this year’s IPL. With two lose losses and three comfortable wins Kolkata looks firmly on track. The only problem with the side is poor shot selection and inexperience which leads to throwing their wickets away when it is not needed. Jacques Kallis looks in tremendous touch and so does Gautam Gambhir but it will be interesting to see how they start the innings. This match might see Kolkata opting for Haddin rather than Morgan as it will add the element of big hitter in the top three of the batting line up.


Brett Lee spearheads the bowling department and has certainly done quite well so far. If Lee fires in today’s match then it will be tough time for RCB boys.
